Solitude with God

God Wants to meet you
My name is Sandra Rooney
Founder of this page
“Solitude with God” is the topic I speak about at churches and to various groups, calling people into solitude with God. This is the foundation of the Christian walk. This is where true Christianity begins. The incredible response to it and the struggles of the listeners to be consistent about a daily solitude time inspired me to start this page.
May this page be a place where the “Struggler” finds refuge for help, prayer
and accountability to others to be consistent about spending time in daily solitude. May the forum provide encouragement, challenge, sharing and inspiration. Let’s give it a try.
Enjoy!
Background music is best heard with Windows Media Player, at least that is true on my computer.

"Be still and know that I am God."

My vision:
That the Christians today will burn in the Spirit again and relearn the spiritual discipline of solitude and through that will set the whole world on fire.

Smile at yourself
for God smiles at you

Once a day we have to shut the world out and concentrate on God
![]() What were we made for? To know God . What aim should we set ourselves in life? To know God. What is the best thing in life, bringing joy, delight and contentment than anything else? Knowledge of God. Once you become aware that the main business
that you are here for is to know God, most of life’s problems fall into place of their own accord.”
J.I. Packer
![]() "Come my child
and crawl onto my lap.
I want to hold you."
![]() Solitude with God is a discipline. An essential discipline. We have to relearn to be still, in
this time where appointments and schedules rule our day. When we run from silence. We
don’t hear God because we don’t take the time to listen. We are doing people and if we
don’t do we feel worthless. God calls us to rest with Him. In our solitude with Him we will
get to know the real God. Our picture of God might change from a judgmental, revengeful,
non-caring god to a gentle, loving, always embracing God. From a distant god who’s out to get you to a God of complete acceptance and Grace.
![]() Spend one hour a day
with God
and you will never be the same
Jesus came to call the sinner to repentance. He sits down eats, drinks and laughs with them. Not with judgment but with passionate love for the sinner to pull them away from sin for He knows that sin will destroy them. He knows our great need and He knows why we do what we do. Why we work so hard, why we are so depressed, why we show off, why prestige is so important to us, why we look for love in so many wrong places. He knows out of what need we do that but there is no condemnation in Him but love that wants to pull us out of that
emptiness.
“He waits to be wanted”
A.W.Tozer
![]() Solitude with God should not become a law.
Jesus came to set us free.
Have grace on yourself if you can’t make it today.
Tomorrow is a new day!
![]() If all you can do is cry
in His presence
Let it be
for this is what He wants
He is your healer
Give God room and let Him love you.
![]() The purpose of our life
is to have a love-relationship with God
![]() When the thought crosses your mind that everything
that you thought about God is wrong and that there is no God
don’t fall into dismay. Everyone goes through that.
If you don’t believe anymore in that God you believed in before
it is because there was something wrong
with your belief and you have to strive to understand better
what you call God.
When a native stops believing in his wooden god
it doesn’t mean that there is no God
but only that He is not out of wood.
Leo Tolstoi
“Silence is nothing else but waiting for God’s Word and coming from God’s Word with a blessing. But everyone knows this is something that needs to be practiced and learned in these days when talkativeness prevails. Real silence, real stillness, really holding one’s tongue comes only as the sober consequences of spiritual stillness.”
Dietrich Bonhöffer

to the spring
of living water
![]() “Let me touch you where you hurt.”
Do you let Him?
“This is what the LORD says; “Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: That he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth for in these I
delight declares the LORD.”
Jeremiah 9:23-24
